Area Sales Manager Job Description

The job of an Area Sales Manager can be divided into following areas:

Sales & Retail Management

People management

 

The specific responsibilities in each area are mentioned below:

 

1.     Sales & Distribution:

Primary target achievement of the area

Monthly Sales planning and forecasting

Conduct regular market visits to check market working and route coverage

Competitor activity monitoring

Continuously search for new opportunities for retail expansion in order to increase sales in the region

Coordinate with the Marketing team to ensure that adequate marketing support by way of merchandising and promotions is available to provide brand visibility and promote sales in the region and ensuring the same is utilised by his team.

Provide the marketing team information about competition activity, new products and offers and schemes services in order to better counter them in the region.

Support the sales leadership in developing the sales strategy and execute the sales strategy

Ensuring Accurate and timely communication of company schemes and offers

Claim handling and settlement and addressing market issues

 

2.     People management

Mentor, motivate and guide team members ensuring sales and achieving targets on monthly basis

Training Sales Officers and Senior Sales officers to develop requisite skills, conducting trainings on products and selling skills.

Establish and ensure that all sales administration procedures and reports relating to the area are properly implemented and maintained to support the sales teams in their efforts to accomplish the sales targets.

Hiring of right candidates as per the concept structure.

 

Preferred Candidate:

Age: 28 - 38

Education: Minimum requirement – Graduate, preferably MBA

Experience: 8 – 13 years in sales in an FMCG/FMHG company with minimum 3 years in a supervisory role managing people.

Should have experience in managing people and large number of channel partners

Good communication skills. Good knowledge of English.

Technologically savvy, with a good working knowledge of MS Office. Needs to have above average skills on Microsoft Excel.
